Workforce Housing Strategies for North River Communities, Chicago, IL

ULI Chicago, in partnership with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) convened a 2- day workshop to develop recommendations for maintaining and building workforce housing in Chicago’s North River neighborhoods, especially Albany Park. Panel Recommendations Presented at Public Meeting in Gurnee

ULI Chicago panelists presented recommendations for revitalizing East Grand Avenue in Gurnee at a public meeting attended by stakeholders including area residents, businesses, and local elected officials. The panel’s recommendations, crafted after an intense 2-day Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) completed on July 12-13, 2016, focused on embracing the population diversity in eastern Gurnee and creating a unique identity that builds on the corridor’s local, independent businesses. Village of Gurnee Requests Assistance in Revitalizing East Grand Avenue Corridor

ULI Chicago members are in Gurnee for the next two days conducting a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) at the request of Village officials.  Panel members are focusing on the half mile stretch of East Grand Avenue between U.S. Route 41/Skokie Boulevard and Green Bay Road to determine revitalization strategies for the Corridor.  The west side of Grand Avenue in Gurnee is a well-known, and popular destination for shoppers and families with Gurnee Mills, Six Flags, and national retailers, and Village officials are looking to balance the scales. The eastern portion of the … Read More

Panel Recommendations Taking Shape Following Woodstock TAP

ULI Chicago’s TAP recommendations are guiding the City of Woodstock as it moves forward with rehabilitating the Old Courthouse and Sheriff’s House in its historic Square. One of the key recommendations of the Woodstock TAP was to form an Advisory Board that could lead the charge, and build broad support at the community and regional level for these historic structures.
