Robie House
More than a 100 years old, Robie House, one of the best examples of Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie style architecture, continues to delight visitors with its dramatic exterior cantilevers and beautiful interior spaces. After a guided tour of the Robie House, you can continue to marvel at Wright’s creative genius while enjoying simple, artisanal fare and coffee at the Plein Air Café next door.
Rockefeller Memorial Chapel
Definitely make time to visit the spectacular Rockefeller Memorial Chapel located around the corner from Robie House. If timed right, you can hear the beautiful music of the carillon bells serenading the neighborhood. You can also climb the 271 steps to the top of the tower to see the bells and the carillon up close, meet the carillonneur, and enjoy sweeping views of the City.
FUN FACT: The Rockefeller Carillon, comprising 72 bells and 100 tons of bronze, is the single largest musical instrument ever built. Its bells were cast over a three-year period and include a massive 18.5-ton bourdon sounding a low C#.
