    Young Leaders Virtual Roundtable:
    Making LaSalle Street Livable

As downtown multi-family rents soar and office occupancies plummet, will Chicago’s iconic LaSalle Street become the City’s newest live/work neighborhood?

LaSalle Street has long been known for its Art Deco architecture and massive floor plates, but with the recent ULI Chicago Technical Assistance work, and the City’s announcement of their “LaSalle Street Reimagined” Invitation For Proposals (IFP), it seems to be on the verge of a renaissance. Public subsidies are being presented to increase the number of affordable units on the LaSalle Street corridor (which currently stands at zero).  To access the City’s resources, the IFP calls for 30% set aside for affordable units at 60% AMI or below.

Join fellow Young Leaders on Tuesday, January 10th for a conversation around “Making LaSalle Street Livable,” as we look at these questions:
    • Can the LaSalle Street become a destination neighborhood to visit and live after 5pm?
    • Which comes first, street retail or multifamily apartments?
    • Is it economically feasible to transform the current floor plates into multifamily?
