ULI Chicago YL Small Group Discussion Series | Up & Over: The Red & Purple Line Modernization Program
ULI Chicago YL Small Group Discussion Series
Up & Over | The Red & Purple Line Modernization Program - Phase One
Tuesday,
March 9, 2021
Join ULI Chicago Young Leaders for the first of their Small
Group Discussion Series, as we learn about the Red and Purple Line Modernization
Program (RPM). The RPM)Program is rebuilding the century-old Red
and Purple lines north of Belmont and is an investment in the next 60-80
years down.
Phase One, which is now underway, includes building the
Red-Purple Bypass, which eliminates a conflict point between the Brown Line and
Red and Purple lines, allowing for increased train service and fewer delays.
RPM Phase One also includes the Lawrence-Bryn Mawr Modernization Project, which
will rebuild the Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn, and Bryn Mawr stations and track
structures. Additionally, a dated track signal system
between Howard and Belmont stations will be replaced to improve service reliability.
We will be joined by representatives from the Chicago Transit Authority and the
joint-venture Walsh-Fluor Design Build Team speak to the history of this rail
system, the required public outreach and design, and finally some of the
construction issues addressed in this transformational project.
