Key Industry Leaders Headline 2016 Chicago Product Council Program Kick-Off Event
January 22, 2016
The 2016 Chicago Product Council Program kicked-off on January 12, 2016 with 94 ULI members assigned to two flights of a broad-based urban development and mixed use Council. The Leadership Teams from both Flights planned an exciting Kick-Off event with two high-profile industry leaders to set the tone for this year’s Council program.
After opening remarks by Council Chairmen, Jim Smith, Managing Principal, Kensington Realty Advisors, Inc. and David Galowich, Principal, Madison Realty Group, Inc., they welcomed Randy Rowe, Chairman, Green Courte Partners, LLC. As the Global Chairman of ULI, Randy provided a unique perspective of ULI’s activities and impact across the globe that many local members may not be aware of.
David J. Neithercut, President & CEO, Equity Residential, then addressed Council members, candidly discussing the evolution and future of Equity Residential as well as the apartment investment industry. “A key component of the Council program is access – to senior leaders, to in depth information, and to new developments,” said Jim Smith, Chair, Blue Flight.
Following the guest speakers, the group divided into Flights and were led by Council Leadership Teams in roundtable discussions on select topics.
ULI Chicago’s Chair, Joe Wisniewski, also gave a brief overview of some of the District Council’s signature programs and numerous local opportunities for members to get involved. And Council Chairman covered Program expectations and guidelines with Council members.
“Now in our second year of the Council program, we are very pleased with the response from local members. We saw an astonishing 90% renewal rate from year one to year two,” stated David Galowich, Chair, Green Flight.
The evening concluded with a networking reception. Though the Kick-Off included both Green and Blue Flights, the individual Flights will separate for their remaining formal Council meetings. In addition, members will be invited to a Summer Boat Tour to offer the Councils an additional, less formal, networking opportunity.
