ULI PRESS RELEASE – WASHINGTON (January 23, 2014) – Gabe Klein, the former transportation chief for the cities of Chicago and Washington, D.C. who is known for making cities less car-centric and more people-friendly, has been named a senior visiting fellow for the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
ULI, with more than 30,000 members worldwide, is a nonprofit education and research institute dedicated to responsible land use and the creation of thriving communities around the globe. Klein will serve the ULI’s Rose Center for Public Leadership, which works with public officials throughout the United States to encourage and support excellence in land use decision-making.
Klein will serve as a ULI senior visiting fellow through June 2014. During this time, his responsibilities will include making presentations to several ULI district councils on entrepreneurial public leadership and positioning transportation as a transformative public investment. He will participate in ULI’s 2014 Spring Meeting, which will be held April 9-11 in Vancouver, British Columbia; and in ULI’s Public-Private Partnership Conference, which is planned for May in Detroit. In addition, he will make contributions to Urban Land magazine.
