Progress on the Elgin-O’Hare Western Bypass

The Elgin O’Hare Western Bypass (EOWB) was identified as 1 of 22 Game Changing Infrastructure projects by the ULI Chicago Infrastructure Committee. ULI Chicago’s Infrastructure Committee found the $3.4 billion project, labeled a “Project of Regional and National Significance” by the latest federal transportation authorization bill, has the potential to substantially affect the land use in and around the corridor, simulating mixed-use development opportunities including retail, hotel, office, commercial, residential, and open spaces, and economic development benefits far beyond the project’s immediate impact area.
