For Immediate Release: ULI Chicago to Present Recommendations for a Vibrant Magnificent Mile
Urban Land Institute Chicago (ULI Chicago), with support from Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and The Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA), is convening a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) to help reposition LaSalle Street from Wacker Drive to Jackson Boulevard into a thriving downtown corridor.
During this first phase of the TAP, taking place in January 2022, the 11-member panel focuses on fact-finding and information gathering. They review extensive background briefing materials and interview over 60 stakeholders including business/property owners, nearby residents, community leaders, and City of Chicago representatives to hear their thoughts on opportunities and challenges facing LaSalle Street and their vision for its future.
The Panel will reconvene in February 2022 for the second phase of the TAP, which will be focused on recommendations development. Working collaboratively and utilizing information gathered during Phase 1, the Panel will prepare implementable recommendations for updating LaSalle Street’s historic identity as Chicago’s financial district and repositioning the corridor for a strong future. Please stay tuned for a virtual community meeting to share the Panel’s findings and recommendations.
