Winnetka Trustees Discussing Parking Issues Outlined by ULI Chicago TAPs

March 12, 2014 – Winnetka Talk – Winnetka trustee says increased parking needed for village businesses
While Winnetka village staff updated trustees on the progress made in implementing the Urban Land Institute’s recommendations one trustee brought up a simple solution to help the village’s businesses.
At the March 11 study session Village Manager Rob Bahan and Community Development Director Mike D’Onofrio spoke to the Village Council about regulatory review, economic development initiatives and physical improvements.
Over the next several weeks, the village staff will bring several items to the council for review and input, including fire sprinkler ordinance amendments (April 1), economic development staffing (March 20), the post office lease agreement (March 20), Hubbard Woods parking deck improvements (May 2014) and bids to complete traffic signal and pole painting (March 20). The ULI Chicago TAP report recommended that the Village assess its parking to balance longer term commuter and employee parking with shorter term visitor/shopper parking, including adding 10-minute parking spots near coffee shops and other “pick-up” places to keep turnover frequent.
