Urban Land Institute Chicago (ULI Chicago), in partnership with Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and The Magnificent Mile Association, convened a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) on October 27-28, 2021 to help plan a vibrant future for North Michigan Avenue from Oak Street to the Chicago River (“The Magnificent Mile”).
Over the two-day TAP, our 11-member panel interviewed over 60 stakeholders including elected officials, City of Chicago representatives, business/property owners, nearby residents, and community leaders to hear their thoughts on opportunities and challenges facing The Mile and their vision for its future. The panel also reviewed extensive briefing materials and worked collaboratively to develop recommendations for updating the distinct identity of “The Magnificent Mile” and enhancing its draw as a premier retail, entertainment, and tourism destination.
Please stay tuned for a virtual community meeting to share the panel’s findings and recommendations.
