    ULI Chicago WLI Presents:
Equity in Real Estate | Resisting in Place through Equitable Real Estate Development

    Tuesday, December 8, 2020

Join the ULI Chicago Woman’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) for their final session in the series “Equity in Real Estate.” The series will conclude with a discussion on the solutions to racial discrimination in real estate.

In the midst of an everchanging built environment and social unrest nationwide, we are poised to think critically about the impact of equity on real estate, design, and planning here in Chicago. As we process the many ways in which development firms can engage in equitable development, it is imperative for us to detail the many ways that this work may take shape and to think critically about the voices who should be leading it. The City of Chicago has exemplified in their own way their mandate for community engagement in development projects, and that is no different in the case of the Bronzeville Lakefront development.

As we wrestle with this work, initiatives like Morgan Malone's Resisting in Place showcases the many Black voices across industries, institutions, and creative expressions nationwide that contribute to these spaces.

As with its popular Breakthrough Series, WLI is highlighting female leaders in Chicago’s real estate industry and civic community. This special “Equity in Real Estate” series will provide a “deeper dive” on issues that are endemic, systemic, and historic, yet more relevant and urgent than ever.
