CHICAGO (January 22, 2015) ULI Full member, Goldie B. Wolfe Miller, founder of the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Women Leaders in Real Estate Initiative (GBWM Initiative), announced support of the Urban Land Institute Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) to promote ULI membership for all current GBWM scholars and alumnae and program assistance for ULI’s WLI efforts in Chicago.
The GBWM Initiative was created in 2007 by Ms. Wolfe Miller as a program to educate, encourage, and support women to become leaders in Chicago’s commercial real estate industry. GBWM Initiative offers women seeking a graduate degree with a focus in real estate a unique program providing scholarship assistance; mentoring and networking opportunities; and, career support and development. The GBWM Initiative has 35 alumnae of its program, known as “Goldie Scholars”, who were selected based on their academic records, professional achievement, and commitment to the real estate industry.
“I am excited about this new alignment with the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative in Chicago and I am looking forward to the collaborative opportunities it will provide for the expansion and enrichment of the GBWM Initiative mission,” said Ms. Wolfe Miller.
ULI’s WLI, launched to raise the visibility and number of women leaders in ULI and the real estate industry as a whole, was formed in 2010. Chicago efforts, led by Kelley J. Smith, Kensington Realty Advisors, Inc., began last year and will now be co-chaired by Suzanne Martinez, LaSalle Investment Management Client Capital Group and Kate Moran, Cohen Financial.
“With the support of GBWM Initiative, and encouragement from Goldie herself, our Chicago WLI program is now in a key position to develop and to work in partnership to advance women in the real estate industry,” said Ms. Smith, chair of the WLI Governance Committee in Chicago.
